NEW SEASON NEW SWIMMERS

The new season of the Rio Maior High Performance Swimminh«g Centre started on 4th September with the reception of new athletes. The new swimmers and their families were welcomed and informed about the upcoming season, including the daily trainings, competitions and other important matters of the Training Centre. This event was coordinated by the Vice President of the Portuguese Swimming Federation, José Sacadura.

In Rio Maior, swimmers have a special support from the Portuguese Government, meaning that they can successfully manage to complete their studies while focusing on their sport career at the same time. In this event, Isaura Morais, Mayor of Rio Maior was also present, who wished a good and successful year for the athletes regarding their studies and sporting career. Additionally, Inês Henriques, world champion in 50km race walking also attended together with her coach Jorge Miguel, and they spoke about their experience in high performance sport, giving advices to the swimmers and encouraging them to take the necessary effort and have the right mentality to be a good athlete and a good person.
