SCIENTIFIC STRENGTH EVALUATION OF YOUTH SWIMMERS

The swimmers who train at the High Performance Swimming Centre of Rio Maior took part in a strength evaluation, which was held on 3rd January in the laboratory and gym with the presence of professors Mário Marques and Daniel Marinho from the Portuguese Swimming Federation.

In this rigorous and precise evaluation, two Spanish specialists were present, David Rossell and Juan Garcia, which guaranteed the use of a methodology that has been already applied in the neighbouring country.

The technical team composed of Bruno Dias, Daniela Cadilhe and Joana Monteiro was also accompanying and coordinating this innovative assessment.

With the beginning of a new year, new challenges are presented to the swimmers who made a big change in their lives as athletes and students since they decided to move to Rio Maior last September to live and to become elite athletes. For these purposes, the Desmor Rio Maior Sports Centre, the Portuguese Swimming Federation and the schools of Rio Maior work together to provide athletes with all technical and personal conditions.

This whole project works with the support of the Portuguese Sports Foundation.
